I was reading an online news commentary about the terrorist attack in India a while ago and came across this new word… it’s a new word for me, I’ve never seen it anywhere before in my entire life so of course it just has to be the English word of the day – effete.

So this is how they used it:

“The Indian system has become so effete that terrorists have again exposed the woeful lack of adequate training and preparedness on the part of those tasked to fight terror.”

It is understandable in context but still i had to know what it means. So i searched the meaning of the word online and found this. Hah!

effete, adj. : Depleted of vitality, force, or effectiveness; exhausted

So there. ^_^ Now you know what it means too.

My comment on the India incident is another matter altogether. Haha. =)
